Abstract

The article The Phenomenology of Audience in Vrindavan’s Rās Līlā Theatre by David Mason presents an ethnographic study of devotional theater in Vrindavan. Focusing on audience experience, Mason shows how spectators become emotionally and spiritually immersed, engaging as participatory devotees rather than passive observers, thus transforming the performance into sacred ritual.
