Abstract

This provocatively titled article challenges the notion that the Critical Edition marks a final benchmark. Phillips-Rodriguez critiques the CE’s exclusion of regional variants and oral traditions, and urges scholars to see textuality as living and multiple. She calls for integrating fieldwork, regional texts, and ritual performance into Mahābhārata studies, rather than privileging a single canonical text.
