Through historical and field research, he showcases how this indigenous community—rooted in Vaishnava ideals—has made life-and-death sacrifices to protect flora and fauna. The Bishnois embody one of the most potent examples of Hindu environmentalism, with teachings that treat trees and wildlife as sacred kin.
