 This review critically examines Georg Feuerstein’s fresh translation of the Bhagavad-gītā, positioning it within the long lineage of philosophical and spiritual renditions of the classic Hindu scripture. Lutjeharms commends Feuerstein’s careful attempt to strike a balance between poetic expression and scholarly rigor. The review appreciates the inclusion of Feuerstein’s own interpretative framework, which draws from both traditional yogic perspectives and modern philosophical commentary. However, the reviewer also highlights certain tensions—particularly the translator’s esoteric leanings and the limited space given to devotional (bhakti) readings central to Vaishnava theology.
